Local Officials to Celebrate New I-69 Corridor Prior to Opening


The Indiana Department of Transportation says it will provide limited access to sections of the nearly completed Interstate 69 corridor for celebratory Community Day events in October.

It's the first time INDOT has allowed public access of this nature on an interstate highway under construction.

The highway from Evansville to Crane is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of this year.

Community Day events on the interstate will take place on Saturday, October 20th at five locations along the 67-mile stretch of the I-69 corridor.

There will be two events in Daviess County, near the State Road 58 I-69 interchange and near the US 50/I-69 junction.

In Greene County, a community day event will be held at US 231 and I-69.

Pike County's event will be held near the State Road 61/ I-69 interchange.

And, the Gibson county event will be held near the State Road 64/I-69 interchange.
